Akzo Nobel Enhances Distribution of Sikkens Coatings on the West Coast

New distribution capability means faster, higher-quality service supporting Western dealers

Troy, Mich., June XX, 2005 – Akzo Nobel Decorative Coatings North America, manufacturer of Sikkens-brand decorative finishes, today announced it is upgrading its distribution capability on the U.S. West Coast to provide improved service to dealers in the Western states.

The company is expanding space in the region for its line of coatings for buildings, homes and decks and is partnering with a California-based distributor to shorten delivery times to dealers and ensure products arrive in top-quality condition.

“The addition of this new distribution channel is a sign of our ever-increasing commitment to our dealers in all parts of the country,” said Gerry Koutavas, general manager, Decorative Coatings North America. “Dealers in the Western United States will find that the quality of our deliveries fully matches the legendary quality of our products, as delivery times in most cases shrink dramatically to one to two days for most of the West.”

Next-day service will be available for parts of California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. The new distribution center in Sacramento will enable West coast dealers to place an order by noon and have it shipped on the same day. Also, the close proximity of the distribution center allows Sikkens to ship products using high-quality short-haul carriers, ensuring better protection of cargo.

Last year, 15% of Sikkens’ products were shipped to dealers in the ten Western states of Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
