NOBEL'S SIKKENS BRAND PRESENTS FOUR NEW PREMIUM WOOD COATINGS
AT THE 2005 INTERNATIONAL BUILDERS'SHOW
Sikkens
debuts Cetol® and Rubbol® products developed using Next
Wave technology
Troy, Mich., January 13, 2005 - Akzo Nobel
Decorative Coatings North America (DCNA) demonstrates four
new Sikkens brand premium exterior wood coatings at the
2005 International Builders’ Show held January 13
– 16 in Orlando, Fla.
These
high-end wood coatings – Rubbol® Siding Finish,
Cetol® Log & Siding, Cetol® DEK Finish, Cetol®
Door & Window – were developed using Sikkens Next
Wave technology, a proprietary method which incorporates
the best quality ingredients and the most specialized dyno-mill
purification processing.
These
four new products display an evolution in the Sikkens brand
and its more than 200-year commitment to the production
of quality coatings, building upon its Dutch heritage which
dates back to the late 1700s.
Innovative
hybrid stain for wood siding
Designed
for exterior wood surfaces, Rubbol Siding Finish utilizes
Sikkens’ innovative hybrid alkyd/acrylic formulation
specifically engineered to give the advantages of both an
oil- and water-based coating.
"This
new, modern hybrid formula combines the quality of an oil-based
coating with the ease-of-use in a water-based solution,”
said Gerald Koutavas, sales business unit manager for decorative
coatings North America. "It demonstrates an ongoing
commitment to technologically superior products that carry
on the premium quality that defines the Sikkens brand."
Rubbol
Siding Finish is recommended for exterior surfaces such
as siding, shakes, shingles, fences, log siding, cedar,
pine, spruce, fir or exterior plywood (T 1-11 board). It
has the ability to overcome most recoating challenges and
excels in covering weathered surfaces and is available in
53 attractive colors.
New,
easy-to-use stains with furniture-like appearance
Both
Cetol Log & Siding and Cetol DEK Finish offer optimum
protection and a premium look, combined with an easier application
process requiring less time and hassle. These translucent,
satin finishes are used for the exteriors of log homes,
wood siding and decks. The time-saving two-coat finish leaves
a furniture-like appearance, creating a protective film
that gives a premium look while preserving the natural character
and grain of the wood.
Cetol
Log & Siding is available in Natural Light, Natural,
Natural Oak, Cedar and Western Grey. Cetol DEK Finish is
available in Natural, Natural Oak, Cedar and Mahogany.
"We
value our reputation as being unrivaled in performance and
durability for all types of wood and now in a more user-friendly
product line, eliminating the need for applying a base coat,"
said Koutavas.
Cetol
Door & Window is a high-performance coating for specialty
applications such as doors and window trim and is available
as a clear satin, clear gloss or in four colors in a satin
sheen. Its protective film creates a durable surface barrier
yet retains flexibility and breathability unmatched by other
exterior varnishes and polyurethanes. These characteristics
out-perform other exterior products on the market. Cetol
Door & Window is available in 4 colors, including Light
Oak, Natural, Mahogany and Dark Oak.
These
and all other Sikkens high-quality coatings are available
at independent retailers throughout North America. To locate
a Sikkens dealer in the United States and Canada or for
