Contractor Tech Tips
#1. When using a chemical stripping product,
be sure to thoroughly wash with TSP and water to remove any
wax residue that may still be on the surface.
#2. For that deck that becomes slippery
when wet, do not add any product to the coating. A good solution
is clear adhesive safety strips, available at most paint or
hardware stores.
#3. A mild dishwashing liquid or mild detergent
may be used to remove dirt from deck surface.
#4.Caulks that work best with our products:
- Single Component Urethane (best)
- Siliconized Acrylic (better)
- Siliconized Latex (good)
#5. Exterior products require a minimum
of 5 hours dry time prior to rain or a temperature drop to
below 50 degrees. Japan dryer can be used to help accelerate
the drying time.
#6. Sikkens standard preparation procedures
should be followed when using composite decking materials.
#7. Should thinning of products be required,
5% of mineral spirits or Naptha can be used.
Airless Spray Recommendations
Spray the first coat to saturation, as much as the
wood will accept and always backbrush to work into the surface
of the wood.
